We took a day to enjoy the beach ... we went to Newport and the kids loved it. It could have been warmer, but I can't complain. I napped on the beach towels while everyone played.
Last year in Hawaii Jake wouldn't go anywhere near the ocean, even if someone was holding him. He has changed his mind and was loving the idea of water and sand to dig.
